One of my favourite memories of latin class is when we were first starting out some of the girls would mess around and not pay attention, and our teacher was the type who didn’t take shit from anyone so she’d get really mad at them. And once this girl was mucking around when our teacher was reading a passage from our book to us and we’d just got to the word quoque. So magistra made her remember the word “quoque” and whenever we came across it in a passage she’d go “Fran, what does quoque mean?” and she’d have to reply “also”

isnt it tho???????????

Not in the schools I went to. The first language lesson I had was Spanish and French in year 7 but the lessons were rubbish, I barely learnt anything and it was full of girls who would just mess around and not bother and disrupt the class. The only good experience with learning languages at school that I’ve had was with Latin but that’s 100% due to my teacher who was inspirational and took no shit from anyone so I could actually learn stuff.

I got french in primary school but we didn’t learn shit because of this table of girls who always interrupted

Every language class I’ve ever been in (apart from GCSE russian and GCSE and A-level latin [but that was bc of miss ace]) has had girls who mucked around and didn’t take anything seriously and I just wanted to punch them all in the face. And it didn’t help that a certain Spanish teacher (you know who i’m talking about) was a complete cow so I had to teach myself most of the stuff and then I got in trouble for “reading ahead”

PETITION TO MAKE LEARNING ANOTHER LANGUAGE COMPULSORY IN ENGLISH-SPEAKING COUNTRIES FROM A YOUNG AGE BECAUSE ENGLISH SPEAKERS ARE LAZY ASSWIPES WHO EXPECT EVERYONE TO SPEAK ENGLISH AND NEVER BOTHER EVEN LEARNING ANY OTHER LANGUAGE.

Aw heck yeah! Italian is the best. :D

It’s such a pretty language and I’ve always wanted to learn it ;u; I went to Venice at Christmas and I knew enough to order food and stuff but I felt really embarrassed because most people knew at least a little English. Basically English-speaking countries are the worst when it comes to teaching languages because the people are lazy a.f. and expect everyone to know English which is ridiculous. Hence why I want to learn as many languages as possible ;w;
